Code Story: Insights from Startup Tech Leaders - S6 Bonus: Omer Rosenbaum, Swimm

Omer Rosenbaum lives in Tel Aviv, with his wife and 3 month old son. He loves to teach, and he shares his knowledge on his YouTube channel. He loves coffee, traveling, meeting new people, and learning languages (not just coding languages). In High School, he took an after school Pascal class - and he loved it. And around that time, he installed a virus on his computer, and established a new hobby for him - virus removal. As military service is obligatory, he spent several years in the Israeli military and learned a ton.

Despite the skill level of engineers these days, Omer found that the onboarding processes of many companies were too costly. After discussing this issue with many end users, they confirmed that the world of knowledge sharing was broken... and they wanted to fix it.

This is the creation story of Swimm.

The Intelligence from The Economist - Jeddah mind trick: Joe Biden in Saudi Arabia

Joe Biden lands in Saudi Arabia this morning, having spent two unremarkable days in Israel and the West Bank. As president, he has been unusually disengaged from the Middle East, and will probably return home with little to show for his peregrinations. We survey the state of sex education in Latin American schools, and explain why dinosaurs outcompeted other species.

Everything Everywhere Daily - Greenland

It is the world’s largest island, has the closest point of land to the North Pole, and is the least densely populated political territory on the planet.

80% of it is covered by an ice mass that is second only to the Antarctic ice sheet.

Beneath that ice might just lie the largest collection of untapped natural resources on Earth.

Learn more about Greenland, the island, and the people who live there on this episode of Everything Everywhere Daily.

NBN Book of the Day - Rachael Pells, “Genomics: How Genome Sequencing Will Change Healthcare” (Random House, 2022)

Genome sequencing is one of the most exciting scientific breakthroughs of the past thirty years. But what precisely does it involve and how is it developing?

In Genomics: How Genome Sequencing Will Change Healthcare (Random House, 2022), Rachael Pells explains the science behind genomics. She analyses its practical applications in medical diagnosis and the treatment of conditions that range from cancer to severe allergic reactions to cystic fibrosis. She considers its potential to help with advances in agriculture and environmental science. She explores the ethics of genetic modification and the dangers involved when humans 'play God'. And she addresses the fundamental question: to what extent will future advances transform human longevity and the quality of life.

Galina Limorenko is a doctoral candidate in Neuroscience with a focus on biochemistry and molecular biology of neurodegenerative diseases at EPFL in Switzerland.

What A Day - The Very Uphill Battle To Protect Abortion In Congress

The House will vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act today in an effort to codify abortion rights — but without a Democratic majority in the Senate as well, it probably won’t go anywhere. Congresswoman Barbara Lee joins us to discuss what Democrats can actually do on a federal level to protect access to abortion right now.

A 10-year-old rape victim in Ohio had to cross state lines to Indiana a few weeks ago to get an abortion. Her story has garnered national attention recently, specifically from conservatives who sought to discredit it.

And in headlines: the gunman in the Buffalo, New York shooting was charged with 27 counts of federal hate crimes, a Russian airstrike killed at least 23 people in Ukraine, and Texas is suing the Biden administration over its new abortion guidance.
