Security Unlocked - Disinformation in the Enterprise

Disinformation refers to the calculated use of false information to influence others and has been a steadily growing form of information warfare. Unfortunately, disinformation is everywhere these days, often hidden in plain sight. Criminals will also adapt and take advantage of technologies, such as AI and deepfakes, to increase the effectiveness of disinformation campaigns. Of course, there are ways to combat these types of attacks, and we cover recommendations for protecting the enterprise in the 2021 Microsoft Digital Defense Report (MDDR).

In this episode of Security Unlocked, hosts Natalia Godyla and Nic Fillingham are joined by the Director of Enterprise Continuity and Resilience at Microsoft, Irfan Mirza, who authored the chapter on disinformation in the enterprise in the 2021 MDDR. Irfan joins to discuss what disinformation is, why the use of disinformation is growing, how cognitive hacking occurs, and how cybersecurity can start thinking about adapting their strategies.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How to identify disinformation campaigns
  • How to train users and protect your organization from disinformation
  • Why we need AI to defend against disinformation

Some Questions We Ask:

  • What is the difference between misinformation and disinformation?
  • How does disinformation impact cybersecurity?
  • What new skills do cybersecurity professionals need to be able to protect the enterprise from this new threat?

What A Day - New Year, Same Omicron with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed

The Omicron variant has absolutely exploded in the US in the last few weeks. On Monday alone, the U.S. reported an astonishing record 1.08 million cases, and the CDC estimates that Omicron is responsible for about 95 percent of known infections through January 1st. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed of “America Dissected” joins us again to discuss everything from testing to schools to the CDC’s quarantine recommendations.

And in headlines: Harrowing winter storms made life a nightmare for many travelers on the East Coast, a record number of 4.5 million U.S. workers left their jobs last November, and Canada pledged $31.5 billion towards reforming its First Nations child welfare system.

The Daily Signal - Kara Dansky Explains Real Agenda of ‘Transgender’ Movement

The true agenda of what has become known as the "transgender movement" is to abolish sex, according to author and self-declared feminist Kara Dansky.

Dansky, author of the new book “The Abolition of Sex: How the ‘Transgender’ Agenda Harms Women and Girls," not only takes issue with the objective to destroy the concept of sex, but also with the use of the term ‘transgender.”

The term “transgender” was invented, but the “word has no coherent meaning whatsoever,” Dansky says, adding that “every single person on the face of the planet, all 8 billion of us, are either female or male, and that's it.”

Dansky joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss the history of the term “transgender” and what she thinks the movement's ultimate objective might be.

We also cover these stories:

  • Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., says he is very hesitant to consider changes to the filibuster rule sought by many in his party.
  • A federal judge issues a preliminary injunction preventing the Navy and the Defense Department from enforcing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
  • In November, a record number of 4.5 million employees quit their jobs.

Ologies with Alie Ward - Neuropathology (CONCUSSIONS) with Mary Alexis Iaccarino

Hi, last week I fell down a flight of stairs. Then I went to the hospital. Then I emailed Dr. Mary Alexis Iaccarino, a Harvard Medical School professor and specialist in rehabilitation from traumatic brain injuries. I asked her all about what happens during a concussion, when to be worried, how long it takes to heal, when a person should get their ass to a hospital, what a brain scan can tell us about a head injury, what it CAN’T tell us about a head injury, if you can fall asleep after a head injury, and the differences between mTBI, TBI, SRC, CTE and even ATGATT. Plus, bike helmets, Natasha Richardson, fruit fly role models and some truly infuriating statistics on who gets mTBI treatment and who doesn’t. And stay tuned later this week for a bonus episode on what happens when bighorn sheep bash their skulls together.
