On this episode of the Hayek Program Podcast, Peter Boettke & Adam Martin share a conversation on Martin's work in the field of Austrian economics and applied political economy. Martin first shares how he first became interested in economics at the University of Dallas before moving on to King's College London and New York University. Later, he shares his concept of "degenerate cosmopolitanism" and how it relates to current discussions surrounding egalitarianism. We'll also hear how his own research in Austrian economics has shaped his thinking in recent times and why he recommends that every economist looks to Charles Jones for a primer on the facts of economic growth.

Focus on Africa - President Museveni’s son’s tweets raise eyebrows

Ugandans' tongues are wagging after a day which saw the President's son first demoted and then promoted to full General after a series of bizarre tweets that threatened to cause a diplomatic rift with neighboring Kenya.

Also, a $100 million dollar cocaine haul has been seized in Liberia by the Drugs Enforcement Agency, and a number of arrests made after a tip-off from the Americans, and it seems to point to a global syndicate.

Plus, thirteen women who'd been abducted from between three weeks to six months are rescued from their captors in Zambia.

Consider This from NPR - Migration Is Shifting. Who Is Crossing Where?

The past twelve months have been the deadliest on record for the migrants crossing the Southern U.S. Border from Mexico. More than 800 have died in the last fiscal year.

This past year also saw a shift in migration. More and more are coming from Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela. Past entry points have given way to more remote locations on the border, like Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas.

These were sleepy border towns, now they are some of the busiest junctions on the border.
