Consider This from NPR - The Cherokee Nation’s Fight Against The Opioid Crisis

The Cherokee Nation has been hit hard by opioid addiction and fentanyl-related overdose deaths. But the tribe has a plan to heal.

Like many communities around the country, the Cherokee Nation received settlement money from big drug companies and pharmacy chains accused of fueling the opioid crisis. The tribe is investing that $100 million in programs to support treatment, harm reduction and a fight against stigma.

Tribal leaders say the funds will save lives and save families.

NPR's addiction correspondent Brian Mann traveled to Oklahoma to see how the Cherokee Nation is fighting the opioid crisis.

In participating regions, you'll also hear a local news segment to help you make sense of what's going on in your community.

Lost Debate - Ep 123 | Trump Indictment?, Banks, Arkansas Youth Labor Laws

Ravi, Rikki, and Joe jump into the fray on the rumored indictment of former President Donald Trump over his reported involvement with a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. Then the trio turns to the aftermath of Silicon Valley Bank’s implosion from last week, and the economic ricocheting that killed Signature Bank, cratered First Republic Bank’s stock, and forced Credit Suisse to sell to UBS. Finally, we look at Arkansas’ new youth hiring bill, which no longer requires 14-and-15-year-olds to obtain work permits before starting a job.

Honestly with Bari Weiss - Bank Runs, Crypto Scams and World-Transforming AI with Tyler Cowen

The last time economist Tyler Cowen was on Honestly about a year ago, inflation was the highest it had been in 40 years, gas prices were nearly $7 a gallon in many parts of the country, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine was leading to a lot of fears about breadlines and nuclear war. A lot has changed since then. Especially in the last two weeks.

Today, Cowen is back on the show to once again explain: what the heck is going on with the economy!? We talk about the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, the psychology of bank runs, whether or not we’re seeing a larger banking crisis, recession anxiety, persistent inflation, a beleaguered tech industry, the seduction of crypto in this moment and the potential salvation of AI. Plus, how many hours Tyler spends on ChatGPT each day, what he thinks of his interview with Sam Bankman-Fried, how altruism is a form of power and why Silicon Valley is a scapegoat.
