Code Story: Insights from Startup Tech Leaders - S8 E9: Lilac Bar David, Lili

Lilac Bar David has been in the banking and payments space for over 20 years. Previously, she was the Co-founder & CEO of Pepper, a banking system focused on millennials and young adults. Outside of tech, she has 3 kids, and enjoys everything to do with the sea - paddle boarding, swimming, etc. She enjoys paddle boarding because it helps her to clear her head. And when it comes to food, she is a fan of Thai, and claims that New York has the best Thai food - outside of Thailand, of course.

Lilac and her co-founders started to think about business owners, and all of the things they had to manually, and in disconnected, non-optimal ways. They wanted to build a banking solution that was tailored towards these users - starting with freelancers.

This is the creation story of Lili.

The Best One Yet - 🍕 “Frozen > Fresh” — Pizza’s biggest winner. JPMorgan’s Epstein settlement. NYC’s traffic tax.

Pizza delivery surged during the pandemic, but it’s now gone cold… because of Frozen Pizza.

JPMorgan is paying a $290M settlement because it allegedly saw something with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstien, but didn’t say something.

And NYC is moving forward with America’s 1st “congestion pricing” traffic tax (New Jersey hates it).

Andreas Krieg discusses the latest trends in the world of story-telling with Owen Bennett-Jones. Krieg is the author of Subversion: The Strategic Weaponization of Narratives (Georgetown UP, 2023).

Owen Bennett-Jones is a freelance journalist and writer. A former BBC correspondent and presenter he has been a resident foreign correspondent in Bucharest, Geneva, Islamabad, Hanoi and Beirut. He is recently wrote a history of the Bhutto dynasty which was published by Yale University Press.

Opening Arguments - OA759: The “Socks” Case – Don’t Take Legal Advice From Judicial Watch! (feat. Kel McClanahan)

Republicans are saying that the "Clinton sock drawer case" - Judicial Watch v. NARA - means that Trump didn't violate the Espionage Act and can just declare anything he wants to be a "personal" record.

That's nonsense, of course.
