Norway is the largest exporter of salmon in the world. And while some of those fish are wild-caught, many are raised in "fish farms"- large cylindrical pens made of nylon in the open water. Sometimes these farmed fish escape, mixing with the local population and causing ecological issues. We see farmed fish in a Norwegian fjord and hear about potential solutions to the problem.
Over the summer, an outbreak of listeria in Boar’s Head products killed 10 people and sickened dozens more. In the months after the crisis, the family that runs the company has said little. WSJ’s Sarah Nassauer dug through court documents to piece together a decades-long story of a family fighting over ownership of a deli meat empire.

We are joined by a dear friend of the show, Paris Marx, to talk about his new series on Tech Won’t Save Us called “Data Vampires” – which provides an excellent deep dive into the politics, ideologies, and consequences of the global expansion of data centers by big tech giants. Data Vampires is full of original research and interviews, plus excellent production. We touch on some of the series’ major themes before going down our own rabbit holes discussing the geopolitics of data centers as a form of imperial infrastructure for techno-capitalism.

Trump's fitness for office is a central question now more than ever after his bizarre town hall Monday night, where instead of taking questions, he called out songs, bopped, and swayed—for 39 minutes. Plus, Kamala plans a trip into the lion's den on Fox News, Youngkin is utterly shameless, and we risk losing the norms that George Washington established for the U.S. presidency. Tom Nichols joins Tim Miller.
Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on the podcast "Call Her Daddy" last week. She spent some time responding to a comment from Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders who spoke about the Democratic nominee at a Trump rally in September.
"My kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble," said Sanders.
Kamala Harris is a step-mom to her husband, Doug Emhoff's two kids.
What does it mean to be a step-mom – and for that matter, step-kid, dad, and sibling? Co-called blended families are everywhere. We discuss what it's like being in a blended family and navigating life outside of one.
