Marketplace All-in-One - Despite Iran conflict, U.S. oil production is unlikely to budge
After launching air strikes on Iranian unclear facilities over the weekend, President Trump posted to Truth Social, demanding that U.S. oil firms “drill, baby, drill.” Although ongoing conflict in the Middle East could balloon oil prices, it’s unlikely that domestic producers are racing to ramp up production just yet. Also in this episode: Renting may be more appealing than buying right now, Treasury auctions see stability, and tariffs threaten the success of a Wyoming trona mine.

The Gist - Fordow The Mop Tolls
The United States has bombed Iranian nuclear facilities—an extraordinary military action authorized by a President who campaigned against prolonged wars. In today’s interview, national security expert Michael Allen, host of NatSec Matters, offers insight into the Israeli strikes, Iran’s capacity to respond, and what Trump’s decision means for the region and the world. Plus, we weigh the risks of a quagmire against the reactions from MAGA loyalists who only just learned how to pronounce “Fordow.” Trump’s instincts are erratic, his rhetoric reckless—but the strikes appear largely effective, and now the world waits to see what comes next.

Newshour - Iran attacks US airbase in Qatar
Explosions were heard in the US-run airbase at Al-Udeid in Qatar as short-and-medium-range ballistic missiles, originating from Iran, targetted the site. There are no reports of US casualties. Also in the programme: after Israel targeted Iran's Evin prison, which holds many political prisoners, an Iranian-American journalist who was a prisoner there tells us about the jail; and scientists learn that killer whales like massaging each other with seaweed.

A curious trade group in Ghana protests a new tax regime. Over in Chicago, a long-serving legislator gets popped for frankly cartoonish levels of corruption.
