The Daily Signal - Can the Court Control the Administrative State?

John Yoo discusses the prospects for the Supreme Court to enact tremendous reform of how the administrative state engages in law-making. Spurred by a 2019 dissenting opinion written by Justice Neil Gorsuch in U.S. v. Gundy that called for a revival of the so-called "nondelegation doctrine", Yoo describes how the Court would curtail Congress from transferring lawmaking power to federal agencies.

Yoo notes, "the question the Roberts court has to face is, do we think that the courts, by trying to constrain how far Congress can go, can actually force Congress to become more accountable and take responsibility for these tough policy choices, even when Congress doesn't want to do it? I think that's a very, very hard question. You could see the court making these decisions in the way that place limits on what Congress can do, place limits on what the administrative state can do."

The Daily Signal - Psychologist Explains Long-Term Effects of Masking on Kids

A great deal of psychological development occurs in the early years of a child’s life. So, what happens when that development is interrupted by a global pandemic? How do things such as social distancing and mask wearing affect our children long-term?

“Part of the way that babies stimulate themselves when they are out in the world is by noticing faces,” clinical psychologist Chloe Carmichael says.

In addition to developmental delays, Carmichael says masking and remote learning might have contributed to increased levels of anxiety in children.

Carmichael, who is also the author of “Nervous Energy: Harness the Power of Your Anxiety,” joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what we know about the long-term effects of COVID-19 protocols on children. She also offers parents some suggestions for how they can help their kids make up for lost development over the past two years.

Also on today’s show, we cover these stories:

  • The Senate passes a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.
  • President Joe Biden welcomes the leaders of Finland and Sweden to the White House to discuss those countries possibly joining NATO.
  • The man accused of killing 10 people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, is indicted by a grand jury on a first-degree murder charge.

The Daily Signal - What to Do If You’re a Conservative at a Woke Company

Companies like Disney and Nike have become more woke and frequently make the news for their radical political positions. Employees of these companies frequently push the larger business to move even further left, and take even more woke positions.

But what happens if someone is an employee of a woke company and isn't woke themselves?

Terry Pell, president of the Center for Individual Rights, says the consequences can be dire.

"HR departments have become increasingly woke, and corporate leaders are afraid of Twitter mobs attacking and destroying the reputation of the company," explains Pell.

"The employers now are highly sensitive to outside criticism and outside activists know this," he adds. "So they prey on these companies and they basically threaten to expose them for being racist if they don't go along with whatever the activists want."

Pell joins the show to discuss how the woke took over business, and how we can counter them.

We also cover these stories:

  • The Department of Homeland Security "pauses" its controversial Disinformation Governance Board.
  • The homeland security agency also prepares for violence following a Supreme Court ruling in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
  • The S&P 500 ESG Index removes Elon Musk's Tesla from the list.

The Daily Signal - New Mexico’s Rep. Yvette Herrell Shares GOP Solution to Border Crisis

The crisis on our southern border has never been worse. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants have crossed into America, and violent cartel members import drugs and violence into our cities.

The Biden administration thus far has failed to seriously address the crisis.

"This really is a frightening scenario for us to be watching play out, and the administration could actually stop it, but they just haven't had the political will," says Rep. Yvette Herrell, a Republican who represents New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District, which borders on Mexico and is the fifth-largest House district in area in the nation.

Herrell joins the show to discuss what the GOP plans to do to address the illegal immigration crisis, and how a Republican-controlled House and Senate would push back against the Biden administration's worst instincts.

We also cover these stories:

  • Speaking in Buffalo, New York, the scene Saturday of a deadly mass shooting, President Joe Biden calls white supremacy a “poison” in the U.S. and condemns those who spread the "great replacement theory."

The Daily Signal - What 2 Pro-Life Women Saw in Wake of Pro-Abortion Extremists’ Attacks

Following the leaked draft decision from the Supreme Court suggesting Roe v. Wade could soon be overturned, pro-abortion activists have become increasingly aggressive as they protest.

In addition to demonstrating in front of the high court justices’ homes, some protesters have taken things a step further and begun to physically attack pro-life organizations at their places of operation.

Lois Anderson, executive director at Oregon Right to Life, and Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America, both experienced attacks on their organizations.

“We’ve always felt very safe there. It’s a community that’s just right next to our state Capitol, but we’ve been in that building for more than two decades and never even had so much as a protest,” said Anderson. “We’ve been quietly doing our work in that building, and it really was jarring.”

They share their stories about how pro-abortion extremists attacked their facilities.

We also cover these news items:

  • Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, wins his case at the Supreme Court involving campaign financing.
  • U.S. troops will be redeployed to Somalia.
  • Sweden is officially seeking to join NATO.

The Daily Signal - Doctor Reveals How Woke Activists Have Infiltrated Medicine

Woke activists have infiltrated nearly every institution of American life. From academia to Hollywood, the radical left has successfully marched its way to power.

Most dangerously, the left has infiltrated an institution where people's very lives are at stake: health care.

Woke health care "just goes against medical ethics," Dr. Stanley Goldfarb says. "The tradition in medicine is to give treatments to patients who need them. And if you had to make a decision based on scarce resources, you gave it to the patient who would benefit the most from it."

Goldfarb, a kidney specialist, is chairman of the board at Do No Harm, a national association of medical professionals that pushes back against woke activists in the health care system. He also is author of the new book "Take Two Aspirin and Call Me by My Pronouns: Why Turning Doctors Into Social Justice Warriors Is Destroying American Medicine."

Goldfarb joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss the consequences of woke ideology in medicine and how we can bring health care back from the cliff.

We also cover these stories:

  • A whistleblower reveals that the FBI has launched several investigations into parents who protested or spoke out against their schools' education policies.

  • The governors of Virginia and Maryland call on the Justice Department to provide better security for Supreme Court justices in light of ongoing protests in front of their homes.

The Daily Signal - Reporter Recounts What He Saw Covering 2020 Riots

The corporate media lied that the riots across America during the summer of 2020 essentially were "fiery, but mostly peaceful." Americans, however, watched in horror as places such as Portland, Seattle, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, burned while radical leftists swarmed the streets.

Through it all, though, one journalist braved the mobs.

Townhall's Julio Rosas spent much of 2020 moving around the country, capturing footage of rioters as they looted stores, fought police, and, of course, burned buildings.

Rosas is the author of the new book "Fiery (But Mostly Peaceful): The 2020 Riots and the Gaslighting of America."

Rosas joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss his book and reveal the truth that the media won't tell you about the riots. We also cover these stories:

  • The Labor Department reports that inflation dipped to 8.3% from 8.5% in March, as measured by the the consumer price index, but that Americans likely will continue to see high inflation.
  • Pro-abortion activists make their way to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco, accusing Democrats of being “complicit” in the likely repeal of Roe v. Wade.
  • Hong Kong’s national security police arrest Cardinal Joseph Zen and several others on charges of colluding with foreign forces to undermine China’s national security.
  • New data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that over 107,000 Americans died last year of opioid overdoses, a record high.

The Daily Signal - Louisiana AG: Big Tech Has Become ‘Arm of the Government’

The Biden administration’s “Disinformation Governance Board” provided momentum for two states to sue the federal government that alleges pressure on and collusion with Big Tech companies to censor political content that challenges the government line.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt last week filed a federal lawsuit that alleges top-ranking government officials worked with social media giants such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to censors free speech and truthful information regarding COVID-19, election integrity and other matters.

The lawsuit by Louisiana and Missouri names President Joe Biden, White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, Disinformation Governance Board Director Nina Jankowicz, and other administration officials.

Landry, Louisiana's attorney general, joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to talk about the lawsuit and whether the Biden administration is outsourcing censorship to Big Tech.
