The Supreme Court is considering the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which has the potential to severely limit or eliminate access to abortion.

Each year since 1974, the March for Life has made its way peacefully through the nation’s capital, its hosts of participants calling for an end to abortion on demand, which the high court ushered in with its 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade.

Now that the time may be at hand, the event is coming to various states, where the fight for life will go on.

Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, recently visited Connecticut for that state's first march. She says life is winning, even in states as blue as Connecticut.

"We got over 3,000 people out for the first march, which is a good number for a state march, and the enthusiasm was palpable," Mancini says. "Churches were very active. ... There were a lot of periphery events, and I'm hoping and praying that we started just a new spark with the grassroots in Connecticut for life."

Mancini joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss the pro-life movement's next step, and what a post-Roe world might look like.

President Joe Biden on Monday announced a proposed federal budget for fiscal year 2023 that includes a wish list of leftist policy proposals as well as an unprecedented tax on unrealized gains.

To Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., Biden's budget fails to help Americans deal with exploding inflation and doubles down on the deficit spending that got America into this mess in the first place.

"The Biden budget is horrendous. It increases spending by some $75 trillion over the next decade," Hern says. "It increases taxes by $55 trillion. We got $55 trillion in taxes. So you do the math, and that's $20 trillion in additional debt over the next decade on top of our $31 trillion now."

"So by his own budget, it never balances, and we have over $50 trillion in debt in 10 years," the Oklahoma Republican says on "The Daily Signal Podcast."

Worse still, that increase in debt compounds horrific inflation.

"Inflation is a taxation on everyone. It knows no party. It knows no economic status of a family," Hern says. "But what it does do, it hurts everybody, more on the lower end of the income scale than it does some on the upper end."

Hern and his GOP colleagues offer an alternative, a plan to lower the deficit and unleash the American economy.

"Our goal is to remind the Americans what the conservative values of the Republican party are about being fiscally responsible, limited government, keeping more money in your pocket so that you can spend in your communities where we don't have to reallocate it from the federal government," he says.

Hern joins the show to discuss Biden's budget and the GOP alternative.

As gas prices rise, the Biden administration is “looking for someone to blame, and unfortunately they really just need to turn and look at themselves,” Rep. Garret Graves, R-La., says.

 

The Biden administration “talks about environmental sustainability, [but] they don't think about economic sustainability as well,” Graves says, adding that when it comes to energy policy, President Joe Biden seems to be “governing by emotion, not by fact, science, and economics.”

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.—Republicans say they have a plan to address the biggest problems facing our country, problems they say the left created.  

"We are seeing the results of unified far-left Democrat government and how that's caused an inflation crisis, an energy crisis with the highest prices at the pump in our nation's history, ... [and] a national security crisis with a Russia rising and invading Ukraine," Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, chair of the House Republican Conference, told The Daily Signal at the 2022 House Republican Issues Conference.

House Republicans last week gathered here, just south of Jacksonville, for their annual retreat to discuss their agenda and solutions to challenges across the country.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thompson is making waves. The biological male swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania is dominating his female counterparts in the pool.

Thompson's races have garnered a massive amount of media attention, and an increasing number of Americans are questioning how it's fair that a man can compete with women.

Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America, says that the biological men are destroying women's sports, and that it's simply not fair for female athletes to be forced to compete against them.

"When you have young women who have worked for years, through their careers in high school and you have moms and dads who have gotten up in the dark at 5:00 AM to drive their daughters to swim practice... but now they're being forced to compete against biological men... It's not a fair fight," Nance argues. "They can't win. Ultimately, they cannot win. And Lia Thomas typifies this issue."

President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson, has come under fire for her positions on child porn sentencing, court stacking, and immigration.

Now David Osborne, CEO of Americans for Fair Treatment, tells "The Daily Signal Podcast" that Jackson has another controversial position: her views on labor.

"Even taking Ketanji Brown Jackson at her best, she's got new judicial philosophies. She's got her own view on the First Amendment and how it should work. She's definitely got her own perspective on how federal sector bargaining should work," says Osborne. "And she's going to bring that to the court. And she may drive some of these issues. I think unions are getting what they're paying for."

Free speech is under fire at America's universities. It's an open secret that liberals dominate academia and wield their power with impunity on college campuses.

But recently, radical leftists have become more brazen with their attempts speech and organizations they don't like.

During a recent bipartisan free speech event at Yale Law School, a mob of student protesters shouted down Kristen Waggoner, general counsel of Alliance Defending Freedom.

Protesters were "shouting down the speakers, shouting down some of their fellow students who had conservative views, and then they left and started pounding on the walls outside of the exits at the building, eventually creating what felt like an unsafe environment and the police were called," says Waggoner.
