Tucker Carlson’s interview with controversial right-wing podcaster Nick Fuentes has snowballed into a bigger conversation that has everyone asking: Does the Right have a serious issue with antisemitism?

 

Victor Davis Hanson explains how conservative icons like William F. Buckley once handled extremists, contrasts that with today’s platforms, and explores why some on the right are now flirting with the same rhetoric on Israel that echoes left-wing sentiments. “I think the reason for the rise of antisemitism is an element, the isolationist base of the MAGA movement, felt that it was the driving force and that it was going to be isolationist and we were not going to get involved in the Middle East. And they were very suspicious of so-called, what they call neocons and what they call Christian Zionists. As Tucker said, he hates Christian Zionists over any other people. Even bin Laden? Al-Qaeda? ISIS? I don't know. But they were losing influence. Donald Trump proved that he is not a neoisolation. He's a Jacksonian. Targeted strikes to preserve and enhance U.S. deterrents.”

Last month, former Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi suggested that local and state authorities in California, a sanctuary state, could arrest federal agents for enforcing federal immigration law, saying that while “the president may enjoy absolute immunity courtesy of his rogue Supreme Court, those who operate under his orders do not.”

The former speaker, as well as other mayors and governors who see fit to nullify federal law, should take a moment and reread the supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution, which “details that local state authorities are subject to treaties and the laws that the federal government makes. And, therefore, pursuant to those laws, they are subordinate,” argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.”

“We know in 1961-63, we had another attempt to nullify the supremacy clause. Southern governors in Mississippi and Arkansas and Alabama said, 'Federal law does not apply here. The Supreme Court ruling does not apply here. In our opinion, we can run our schools the way local people want. And we're gonna resist you.' The Eisenhower, and then later the Kennedy administration, said, 'No, you're not. We have the federal government's military, and we can federalize and hold you in contempt and arrest you because of the supremacy clause.'"

In the wake of the historic election results in Virginia many conservatives that I know are downhearted, disillusioned and depressed. Fingers begin to feel like pointing and to extrapolate on the old expression that “victory has many parents, but defeat is an orphan,” I’ll add that defeat does seem to have many cousins telling them where they went wrong.

However, not to sound like a Pollyanna but the Bill of Rights is still there, Virginia’s Bill of Rights is still there and though we redouble our commitment to cover any attempt to violate the most sacred of America’s codes, “shall not be infringed.” We need to know the good in the world. Today, so many of my friends are looking for positive things in the Conservative world. To reinforce the belief that the future is still filled with American Exceptionalism. It is with that in mind I share with you a conversation with two Virginian High School students boldly standing up for founding principles from their Turning Point USA chapter at Western Albemarle High School, Noah Coffin and Ollie Woodrow.

The “experts” were wrong again.

For months, Americans were told that the U.S. was embroiled in a losing “trade war” with China, preventing the two world powers from striking any sort of deal.

However, in the face of this supposed adversity, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump inked a trade and economic deal, which included key Chinese concessions: agreeing to buy more U.S. soybeans, ease export controls on rare earth minerals, and crack down on fentanyl production chemicals.

“In other words, China is trying to be nice to us because it's afraid. President Donald Trump and his administration have been lambasted by the corporate media, members of Congress and left-wing pundits over the recent indictments of three notable individuals: John Bolton, James Comey and now Letitia James. These critics argue that the president is going on a so-called “revenge tour,” using the law “in a weaponized fashion.”

All these people are willfully overlooking one critical factor: magnitude.

President Donald Trump was indicted 91 times in four different jurisdictions in what can only be described as a “coordinated” effort to bar him from public office in the lead-up to the 2024 election, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”

“So, in conclusion, it's going to be much more difficult for the Trump Department of Justice, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, to find a Clapper or a Brennan or a Bolton guilty in a blue jurisdiction, where you're going to have juries that are, for the most part, decidedly anti-Trump. Much more difficult. So, they're gonna have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to a far greater degree than was true of Donald Trump. Donald Trump came in as a conservative, and in an era of rampant Trump hatred and Trump Derangement Syndrome, and he had to face predominantly left-wing grand juries, left-wing juries and left-wing judges.

“So, if Donald Trump is accused of waging lawfare, there's going to be a natural check on that. And that check is that he is going into hostile territory. He—I'm personifying it—but his attorney general will be going into areas that are not sympathetic to the prosecution but will be sympathetic to the opponents of Donald Trump.”
