CoinDesk Podcast Network - BREAKDOWN: The Productization of Bitcoin Maximalism

Welcome to The Breakdown: A daily analysis show distributed by CoinDesk, featuring @NLW

On this episode...

More crypto businesses are transitioning to or choosing to focus exclusively on bitcoin only from the beginning, in some ways representing a productization of bitcoin maximalism.

In China, however, the government is cracking down fiercly on resurgent crypto businesses that have taking President Xi’s positive comments about blockchain as an excuse to operate more openly.

Interestingly, the attitude of many US financial firms seems to be shifting from a version of “blockchain not crypto” to “digital assets not blockchain” as they begin to adapt to demand from customers.

The Intelligence from The Economist - Majority rules: Britain’s new Parliament sits

Now that the prime minister has a thumping parliamentary majority, Brexit is assured—but on what terms? And what other legislative shake-ups are in the works? President Donald Trump has relied heavily on financial sanctions, often in place of old-fashioned diplomacy. We ask whether that is an effective avenue of foreign policy. And an attempt to peek into Asia’s illegal tiger farms.

The Daily Signal - Podcast: Alaska Attorney General Talks Workers’ Rights

Two years ago, the Supreme Court handed down a major ruling in the Janus decision. That decision freed up public-sector workers from having to pay unions against their will. But since then, a lot of states haven’t been complying -- and unions have fought back. Alaska is leading the charge in the opposite direction -- bringing its state into compliance with the Supreme Court decision. Alaska Attorney General Kevin Clarkson joins the podcast to discuss. Plus: Peloton, the home workout bike, is taking heat after an ad that some say is offensive and sexist.

We also cover the following stories:

  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces the House will vote on impeachment next week.
  • Sen. Lindsey Graham speaks out about impeachment in the Senate.
  • Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., blames the New Jersey shooting on "white supremacy."
