Consider This from NPR - High Gas Prices: Why There’s No Quick Fix

This week, the average price for a gallon of gas in L.A. County crested six dollars — the highest in the country. The national average is up around 70 cents in the last month.

The are a lot of complicated reasons why gas is more expensive — and a lot of ideas for how to make this easier on consumers. But none of them are quick or easy.

NPR's Scott Horsley explains why drivers who are newly interested in purchasing an electric vehicle might not have a lot of options.

NPR's Brittany Cronin reports on calls for more domestic oil production in the U.S. — and why it may take some time for that to happen.

Here's more on why gas prices are so high from NPR's Chris Arnold.

In participating regions, you'll also hear a local news segment to help you make sense of what's going on in your community.

CoinDesk Podcast Network - BREAKDOWN: The Fed’s Powell Is Getting More Hawkish as Market Starts Using the ‘R-Word’

Is recession the only way out of inflation?

This episode is sponsored by Nexo.io, Arculus and FTX US

On today’s episode, NLW takes a tour of recent macro sentiment, focusing on the shifting tone coming out of the U.S. Federal Reserve. In speeches and interviews this week, Fed Chair Jerome Powell made it clear the central bank was prepared to raise rates 50 basis points at its next meeting if needed, and to do so at multiple meetings this year. While 50bps in the context of 7.9% inflation may not seem like a lot, the last time the Fed raised rates 0.5% in a single meeting was March 2000.

The Daily Signal - How Penny Nance Is Fighting to Keep Men Out Women’s Sports

Transgender swimmer Lia Thompson is making waves. The biological male swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania is dominating his female counterparts in the pool.

Thompson's races have garnered a massive amount of media attention, and an increasing number of Americans are questioning how it's fair that a man can compete with women.

Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America, says that the biological men are destroying women's sports, and that it's simply not fair for female athletes to be forced to compete against them.

"When you have young women who have worked for years, through their careers in high school and you have moms and dads who have gotten up in the dark at 5:00 AM to drive their daughters to swim practice... but now they're being forced to compete against biological men... It's not a fair fight," Nance argues. "They can't win. Ultimately, they cannot win. And Lia Thomas typifies this issue."

Nance joins this bonus episode of "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss a Title IX complaint her organization filed, and how transgenderism is destroying women's sports.
