The Goods from the Woods - Episode #201 – “American Gladiators” with Jeff May

In this episode, we're celebrating the Fourth of July (aka Dr. Pat's Birthday!) with our good friend and TWO TIME guest of the show, comedy's Jeff May! This episode is all about the early 90's smash hit television show 'American Gladiators' which ran for 139 episodes from 1989 until 1996. Dr. Pat and Jeff both happen to be experts on the topic of this show which represented a time period in which America was truly at "peak Florida". Absolutely everything was spandex and neon and everyone was rocking mall hair and a beef jerky tan. Jeff even ate at the 'American Gladiators' restaurant: American Gladiators Orlando Live!. This episode is totally ridiculous and we can't wait for y'all to hear it. Just don't be like Malibu and watch out for that human cannonball! Follow Jeff on all forms of social media @HeyThereJeffro. Song of the week is "Freedom of '76" by Ween.

You're Wrong About - The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill

Mike tells Sarah that America’s most devastating oil spill was not, in fact, a DUI. Digressions include “Titanic" (obviously), the Cuyahoga River, Jennifer Lopez and marshmallows. Punitive damages make a triumphant return. Mike, a professional writer, continues to misuse the word “literally.”

The Allusionist - Imaginary Advice: S.E.I.N.F.E.L.D.

Hello! I’m currently in hospital so am having to take a little time off work. Therefore, instead of a new Allusionist episode today, here’s my favourite audio piece I’ve heard this year: ‘S.E.I.N.F.E.L.D.’ from Ross Sutherland’s podcast Imaginary Advice.

NB: the episode contains a couple of Strong Terms.

Hear more Imaginary Advice episodes – some of my favourites are ‘Six House Parties’ and ‘Me Versus The Spar (parts 1-7)’ – and find the show’s live dates and Patreon, at imaginaryadvice.com.

The Allusionist will be recuperating for a bit, but should be back at the end of July. In the meantime, catch up on all the previous episodes and goad all your beloved friends and acquaintances to do likewise.

Serious Inquiries Only - SIO145: Left Critique of #metoo with Aimee Terese

It's part 2 with Aimee Terese! Aimee offers what she views as legitimate leftist critique of the #metoo moment. She also shares her own story. We have what I hope is a healthy, but rigorous debate about areas where the movement has gone too far, and affirmative consent vs. the previous paradigm. I'm very curious to get feedback on this one! Next episode will be voicemail, so that makes it an extra good time to chime in with a phone call! Hillary Facebook Explanation; Vice Article on BDSM and Consent Leave Thomas a voicemail! Stuff They Don't Want You To Know - The Cult of the Garbage Eaters

In small towns, neglected glades and college campuses across America, small groups of bearded wanderers in homespun clothes are spreading a message -- that the End of Times is upon us, and only the truly righteous shall be saved. Living primarily off the grid and on the fringes of society, this group has proven extremely effective at hiding its converts from law enforcement and concerned relatives. In fact, it's difficult to get a grip on exactly what this group is and what they wish to do. Join Ben and Matt for a closer look at the mysterious group 20/20 called "The Garbage Eaters".
