Ologies with Alie Ward - Deltiology (POSTCARDS) with Donna Braden

Why were postcards invented and why do they still exist? Why do we lie to people and say our lives are better than they are? Alie stopped into the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan and talked to curator of 40 years, Donna Braden, about her work with the postcard collections -- as well as her musings about how emotions impact memory, why Americans love to hit the open road and what the biggest postcard you're allowed to mail is. Listen while riding off into the sunset or sipping tea on a porch and then send someone you love a giant postcard because you can.

The Allusionist - 80. Warm Front

Today will be fine. But wait: fine as in ‘OK’, fine as in ‘really rather good’, or fine as in ‘no precipitation’? When you’re a TV weather forecaster, you have to deal with the mismatch of your specialist vocabulary with that of the meteorological laypeople watching – as well as cover all the weather across a whole country, translate conditions into something the viewer can identify with, and warn people about cyclones without making them too panicked. Or not panicked enough to take sensible cyclone precautions. Nate Byrne, who presents the weather for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s News Breakfast, breezes in to shower us with meteorological knowledge.

The Goods from the Woods - BONUS EPISODE! – “World Cup 2018 Prediction Show”

Happy World Cup, y'all! Here's a little bit of bonus content from the Goods from the Woods boys. In this episode, Dr. Pat, Rivers, Mr. Goodnight, and our guest from earlier in the week, Sam Harter, go through their brackets as they try to determine who's gonna win the big prize. The thing is Pat is the only one who knows anything about soccer. The other three literally know NOTHING about the teams or even the sport really and that's where the fun comes in. This is a really great short bonus ep. We hope you enjoy it. OLÉ! OLÉ! OLÉ! OLÉ! OLÉ! OLÉ! Philosophers In Space - 0G11: Full Metal Alchemist and Death

The first rule of podcasting is the law of equivalent awesome. To obtain an awesome podcast, something of equal awesomeness must be lost:

One article on the myths of immortality: http://www.senescence.info/physical_immortality_myths.html

One pop culture survey of reasons not to bring people back from the dead. https://io9.gizmodo.com/5375693/10-reasons-not-to-bring-someone-back-from-the-dead

One sweet new set of intro quotes, courtesy of our patrons.
