On one side was an unstoppable juggernaut that had amassed one of the largest empires in world history in less than a century.
On the other side was a vastly outnumbered force that lacked the primary weapon of the era, heavy cavalry.

No matter where you are on Earth right now, there is approximately 6,400 kilometers or 4,000 miles of rock beneath your feet.
All of that rock isn’t the same. There exist different layers below the surface that have different properties and different compositions.
There is even a layer near the center of the Earth where the rock isn’t even a solid, but a liquid.
The way we are able to know about what lies beneath the surface is one of the greatest accomplishments of science.
